Coastline Case Studies Program
SFC is partnering with Pacific Ridge School and High Tech High San Marcos to bring juniors and their parents an incredible opportunity! Deans of Admission from highly selective colleges and universities across the country will share their knowledge and expertise surrounding the college application and reading process, offering insights to families as students begin their own college searches. Following the case studies program, there will be a college fair, giving you the chance to speak with the Deans individually. Juniors and their families will have the opportunity to review the case studies prior to the event so they can come prepared to discuss them. The event will be on the evening of May 18 at Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad. More information will follow.

SFCS Mini College Fair
SFCS will host 10-15 college representatives in a mini-college fair on April 19 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm. Upper School students are welcome to attend. More information will follow.

8th Grade (rising 9th) Course Selection Meeting
Meet your student's Upper School Counselor, develop a four-year plan, learn about course prerequisites, Honors/AP course policies, and more at the 8th Grade Course Selection Event on Tuesday, March 16, from 4:30pm – 6:00pm in the Chapel. Hear from academic department chairs and your counselors on how to make the most of your high school years.

Academic Department Open House
An academic department open house will be held for Upper School students and new Upper School students, with course selection questions, on Wednesday, March 17, from 3:30pm – 4:30pm in the Library.

Upper School Course Selection
Students in grades 8-11 will go to the Library Computer Lab one day during the week of March 22 – 26 with their English classes to select their 2010-2011 courses online. Counselors will lead students through the process and answer any questions they may have. Current 9th and 10th grade students will also receive their Family Connection access codes.

San Diego National College Fair
Sponsored by the National Association of College Admissions Counselors, the SD National College Fair will be on April 20 from 9:00am – 12:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:30pm and will host representatives from colleges and universities all over the country. Students will have an opportunity to meet with college reps, attend workshops on testing, financial aid, and other college options. Prior to attending the fair, students can log onto www.nacacnet.org/ncfvideo to see a sample of what to expect at the fair. Admission is free.

College Entrance Exams
Juniors - Make sure you schedule your SAT and/or ACT testing for the Spring. Your goal should be to take your college entrance exam(s) by the end of June. You may re-test the fall of your senior year, if you wish. Your counselor highly discourages you from taking the SAT and/or the ACT for the first time in the fall of your senior year. Go to www.collegeboard.com to register for the SAT I Reasoning Test and SAT II Subject Tests (if required) and to www.act.org to register for the ACT with Writing. Make those testing plans now!

Summer Plans
Students who have earned a "D" or "F" are highly encouraged to remediate those grades at any WASC accredited school over the summer. In addition, there are numerous options for advancement or summer enrichment programs. Information about the SFCS Summer Program is now available at www.sfcssummer.net. Begin planning now to make the most out of your summer.
